Places of Interest in South Wales

Pantymeillion Holiday cottages are located in the County of Carmarthenshire, which comprises 1,000 sq miles of the most beautiful coastal and inland areas in Wales. Carmarthenshire is extremely accessible. We are positioned between the magnificent coast of the Gower Peninsular and the lovely spectacular seascapes of the Pembrokeshire coastline including the historic fishing town of Tenby, which is 40 minutes drive away.

The surrounding countryside is vivid with the lush river valleys contrasting sharply with rolling hills. The spectacular 50 mile coastline is breathtaking and includes Pembrey Country Park which is set in 500 acres of landscaped woods and parkland with activities for all to enjoy. The 9 mile beach was one of Wales' four Blue Flag beaches in 1996, whilst another accolade from Tidy Britain has named Cefn Sidan one of the 6 top beaches in Britain, which is only ten minutes drive in the car!.

Visit the little coastal town of Laugharne, immortalised by one of the greatest Welsh writers Dylan Thomas. Laugharne Castle, an inspiration to Dylan, is a short walk from the Boat House where he lived.

The river Loughor is a favourite haunt of migratory birds on the local wetlands. The estuary is famous for its cockle-gathers who have combed the shoreline for this local delicacy for centuries. Here you will also find Wales' only Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre at Penclacwydd, which is near Llanelli and gives visitors a perfect opportunity to get close to nature.

We are situated in an excellent position for coarse, trout and sea fishing -Furnace Pond is renowned for its excellent coarse fishing. This is a five minute walk away. Five minutes drive will bring you to the picturesque Swiss Valley or "Cwm Lliedi" Reservoir for trout fishing. The River Loughor, Gower Coastline and Cefn Sidan beach provide excellent fishing particularly for Sea Bass and a host of other species. We are also very close to the newly- opened cycle path which leads to the National Botanic.
